Alvar Aalto once noted that Helsinki’s most beautiful and central location lacked a building worthy of its setting. He wanted to create something fantastical, cinematic and, naturally, functional. Why not something that could be called Finlandia Hall.
Alvar Aalto’s iconic creation, Finlandia Hall, is an experiential event centre and a fascinating meeting place in the middle of the most beautiful part of Helsinki. It now serves the public more comprehensively than ever with two restaurants, a design shop, new exhibition spaces, and accommodation services. Finlandia Hall is a UNESCO World Heritage site that is part of the 13-site Aalto Works series.
Finlandia Cafe&Wine Summer Terrace
The 100-seat terrace of Finlandia Cafe&Wine, overlooking Töölönlahti Bay, is open and welcomes guests during the café’s regular opening hours, Monday to Sunday. On selected Wednesday evenings, the atmosphere comes alive with live performances by artists including Pepe Willberg Trio, Osmo Ikonen and Country Couple.
Enjoy seasonal summer treats, specialty coffees, sparkling refreshments and delicious dishes from the terrace grill. Come and make the most of summer with great music and a relaxed terrace atmosphere in the heart of the city!
